ABOUT THE RESEARCH LIBRARY

The origin of the Queensland Military Memorial Museum Library & Archive goes back to the 1980s, after the Victoria Barracks Historical Society was established. In 1998 the library was moved from 'Victoria Barracks Brisbane', in the Australian Army base at Petrie Terrace, to Fortitude Valley where it now operates as a member research library in Military Science & History.

In 2017 the Queensland Military Memorial Museum Library & Archive will be celebrating its history, portraying texts and documents, as a homage to its foundation. Our Society history is currently being prepared by dedicated volunteers to outline our development as well as that of our collection from its foundation to present day.

Historypin is collaborating with over 200 libraries, archives and museums around the world to help them share their content with a global community of users. Through Historypin, these partners can make their content available for people to explore and interact with in new ways: making comparisons through time, adding memories and stories, piecing it together into Collections and Tours and improving what we know about where and when it belongs. In collaboration with the State Library of Queensland, the Victoria Barracks Historical Society through the Queensland Military Memorial Library & Archive, is continually contributing to Historypin.
